  • Tel Aviv PortThe first port of Israel was opened at 1936 and now is a flourishing hang out area with many new restaurants, bars and shops all accessible by a 14000 square meters of a wooden deck that its shape was inspired by the Tel Aviv sand dunes...The Tel Aviv port was shut down in the 60's as an active sea port, and was awaken in the 80's as a nightlife and water sports center. Nowadays it is the busiest nightlife area of the city.

  • TEL AVIV, ISRAEL - Shlomo Lahat (Chich) (R), former mayor of Tel Aviv and Ron Huldai, current mayor of Tel Aviv are attending a public event in Tel Aviv on April 17, 2009. In April 1909, representatives of 66 families gathered on a sand dune north of Yafo to allocate the plots for a new neighborhood - which would later become a large metropolis, Tel Aviv. In order to divide the plots in a just manner, they held a raffle using seashells. The photograph of this raffle, taken by renown photographer Avraham Soskin, is considered the defining photograph of Tel Aviv's foundation. Exactly 100 years after this historic moments, the descendants of the 66 founding families, along with thousands of descendants of the city's builders, gathered for a commemorative photo event on Menashiya, Tel Aviv's old rail station.
